The Canyon Community is AMAZING!

I am very pleased to see how interactive everyone is during the Performance Nutrition Experience. Canyon CrossFit as a community is sparking some fire! People are watching us from other affiliates, people have mentioned to me that they heard about what we are doing. The Facebook group page is a huge success. I program some opportunities to get PRs and everyone is crushing it!

Here are some things I have experienced and what you should expect:

  • Recovery is faster. Although your WODs may feel like a bear has jumped on your back, you will be able to feel like a million bucks soon after the workout. For the rest of your day, you should feel amazing!
  • Eating more will help make you thrive. I am not posting daily what I am eating but I can tell you this: I am eating A TON. We are not counting calories but please be aware that it is a lot lower than what you usually take in every day. Sometimes I have to forcefully feed myself (during days that I usually workout).
  • Fish Oil. I'M SERIOUS. Take fish oil, despite the fact that you don't like the taste. (Let food be your medicine...) once again. I AM SERIOUS, START TAKING FISH OIL.
  • Be smart, follow the Whole30. I learned that I shouldn't go nuts on the nuts. I have been reading (to ensure to everyone that I agree with the statement before I post anything) that nuts are often as high or even high than phytic acids than grains. In fact, nuts decrease iron absorption even more than wheat bread. This is ironic because a lot of people on Paleo who go to great lengths to avoid food toxins - are chowing down nuts like they are going out of style. You can read more about phytic acid here.
  • Sleep does a body good. Some of you may have heard that I strained my wrist pretty bad. I have been taking care of it really well. A lot of my strength has come back. One thing I have noticed though because of changing my diet: I became very very tired the first and second day of my injury. My body was telling me I need to sleep. It is part of the healing process. I started to get lightheaded and fatigued. I decided to take a nap during the afternoon and I felt a lot better. The same goes for anyone who had a rough week of WODs, find the time to get extra sleep! It is that important.
  • Fish Oil, I AM NOT JOKING.

For those of you who are participating in the First Ever Performance Nutrition Experience, all of you have helped make this a huge success and I appreciate it so much! As we get closer to the end of the Exerience, you will learn more about how Canyon CrossFit will be keeping this name (PNE) as part of our nutrition program, Canyon CrossFit's Performance Nutrition Program.
